TUMU, Upper West Region — June 2, 2026
The Upper West Regional Police Command has apprehended two men suspected of robbing three people at gunpoint along the Tumu-Kowie road, the latest breakthrough in a series of attacks that have unsettled residents of Sissala East District.
What happened
According to a press release issued Monday, June 1, by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service in Wa, the incident occurred on May 30, 2026. Preliminary investigations identify the suspects as Seidu Muizu, 20, and Salifu Mutada, 22.
Police say the two allegedly attacked three persons at gunpoint and fled with an unregistered Apsonic motorbike. Following what the command described as a “swift intelligence-led operation,” officers recovered the stolen bike and arrested both suspects.
More exhibits recovered
During follow-up investigations, police also retrieved an unregistered Loujia motorbike believed to have been used to commit the robbery. Both motorbikes have been impounded as exhibits to assist ongoing investigations.
Possible links to other robberies

The Command noted that information gathered so far suggests the suspects may be connected to a series of robberies that have recently “terrorized residents within the Tumu area and its environs.” Investigators are now working to establish whether the two were involved in other reported criminal activities in the district.

The two suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with investigations. The Police Command said efforts are underway to recover the firearm allegedly used in the May 30 robbery.
