In a move set to energize the grassroots of the National Democratic Congress in the Upper West Region, Angsongna Banangmwine Claudius, popularly known as ABC, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of Deputy Regional Secretary.
Addressing party faithful, regional leaders, and constituency executives in a statement released this week, ABC framed his candidacy not as personal ambition, but as a collective project for the region.
“This is more than a political ambition,” ABC stated. “It is a project for regional integration. It is a project for youth empowerment and development. It is a project for opportunity sharing, unity, and grassroots engagement.”
The declaration, addressed to the Honourable Regional Minister, Regional Executives, Constituency Executives, and all loyal party faithful, struck a tone of humility and conviction. ABC emphasized that his vision is rooted in the founding principles of the NDC — social justice, inclusiveness, and collective progress.
A Vision Built on Four Pillars
ABC’s campaign is anchored on four key pillars he says the Upper West Region’s Secretariat urgently needs:
1. Development and innovation – Modernizing party administration and embracing new ideas to strengthen outreach.
2. Youth mobilization and capacity building – Creating real pathways for young people to lead, learn, and contribute meaningfully to the party’s growth.
3. Administrative efficiency and transparency – Ensuring the Secretariat is responsive, organized, and accountable to every branch.
4. Unity and cohesive party organization – Bridging gaps between constituencies and ensuring no member is left behind.
“Politics is not about personal gain,” ABC declared. “Politics is about creating opportunities, lifting each other up, building stronger communities, and ensuring that no member is left behind.”
The ABC Agenda: Inclusiveness, Opportunity, Progress
Calling for delegates to rally behind his agenda, ABC outlined a clear promise: to work side by side with every executive, every constituency, and every branch member.
His message to the party was direct: “We will move together. We will uplift one another. We will grow together, and we will succeed together.”
The campaign is rallying around what he calls the ABC Agenda:
✅ An agenda of inclusiveness – Every voice matters, from the polling station to the regional office.
✅ An agenda of opportunity – Expanding access to training, resources, and leadership for all members.
✅ An agenda for the betterment of our region – Positioning Upper West as a model of excellence within the NDC.
“Let Us Build”
ABC closed his declaration with a call to action that has since been echoed across party WhatsApp platforms and branch meetings throughout the region: “Let us unite. Let us organize. Let us build.”
As the race for Deputy Regional Secretary begins to take shape, ABC’s entry brings a youth-driven, development-focused voice to the table. His promise of a Secretariat that is “responsive, organized, inclusive, and proactive” sets the tone for what could be a defining contest for the party’s future in the Upper West Region.
