Kpaankole Gets Solar-Powered Borehole as Wa Central MP, Mayor Pledge More Development
Kpaankole, Wa Central – May 2, 2026
Residents of Kpaankole in the Wa Municipality can now access clean, reliable drinking water following the commissioning of a solar-mechanised borehole by Wa Central MP Dr. Rashid Pelpuo and Wa Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Nurah Issah Danwana.

The project, commissioned this week, is expected to improve health outcomes and ease the burden of water collection for households in the community.

Dr. Pelpuo, who also serves as Minister for Labour Jobs, and Employment, said the intervention forms part of the NDC Government’s drive to address basic needs and advance sustainable development in underserved areas.

“Access to clean water is fundamental to community welfare and economic productivity. This borehole is one of several projects we are delivering to improve living standards in Kpaankole,” Dr. Pelpuo told residents at the commissioning ceremony.

MCE Alhaji Nurah Issah Danwana described the solar-powered system as a cost-effective, climate-resilient solution that will reduce the community’s reliance on unsafe water sources.

Beyond water, Dr. Pelpuo assured the community that additional infrastructure projects are in the pipeline.

He reiterated the NDC Government’s campaign commitments to extend electricity, rehabilitate access roads, and construct a school in Kpaankole to accelerate development.

Community leaders welcomed the borehole and called for expedited work on the pledged road and electricity projects, noting that poor road networks continue to hinder access to markets and healthcare.

The solar borehole is the latest in a series of interventions by the Wa Central MP aimed at closing infrastructure gaps across the constituency.
