Wa, Upper West Region — The immediate past presidents of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) at Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS) together with the NUGS President have disbursed financial aid to four students through the Presidential Aid Project 2025/26.
Immediate past president Raymond Kanyiti Nwiiri, who also serves in the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), said the initiative was born out of necessity after several students personally reached out about their inability to pay school fees.
“As student leaders, we felt it was our humanitarian duty to act,” Raymond said during the disbursement ceremony. “We used our personal connections to reach out to people who know and trust us, asking for support on behalf of our colleagues.”

The urgency of the project was underscored by tragedy. The SRC President Manasseh Tetteh Armah recounted the story of a student who died in a road accident while at home trying to raise money for fees. “He passed on while searching for money to come back to school. That touched my heart so much. We couldn’t let others suffer the same fate.”
To the glory of God, the team successfully raised funds to support about four students, preventing potential deferrals and dropouts. Raymond expressed profound gratitude to donors, noting that their generosity had “created hope and changed lives.”
“Leadership is not about power,” he emphasized. “It’s mainly about the impact and purpose you have in the lives of others. I encourage more leaders to think about their followers personally.”
He also charged beneficiaries to use the funds for their intended purpose and to keep believing in themselves. “You asked, you sought, and today you have found. You are capable of becoming who you want to be.”
Raymond and his colleague Manasseh Tetteh credited their inspiration to Rotary International and Rotaract, where both serve as members. “Rotary taught us ‘Service Above Self’ — to do good without expecting anything in return. That spirit is what we brought into our SRC leadership,” Raymond said.
The Presidential Aid Project 2025/26 stands as one of the key legacy initiatives of their administration.
